About

Built by the firm that uses it, for the districts it represents.

Stoner Advisory Group is an owner’s representative for Michigan school bond programs. BondControls is the financial-controls machinery behind its engagements, and SAG is the only firm that operates it.

Only through Stoner Advisory Group

Why it is not for sale on its own.

The value of BondControls is not the screens. It is that someone who works only for the district posts every check, ties it out, reads every exception, and stands behind the board report. Selling the technology without the people would sell the part that does not matter.

So it is not sold as software and no district is granted a license. A district engages SAG, and the technology comes with the principals who run it, invoiced by SAG as a professional fee.

SAG holds no stake in the architect’s drawings or the construction manager’s contracts and accepts nothing from vendors. That is the whole reason its reporting can be independent of the builder.

The principals

John D. Stoner

Eric Stoner

Principal · Program Controls & Business Operations

Eric built BondControls: the cost tracking, tie-out, dashboards and board-ready reconciliation behind every SAG engagement. He brings that discipline from a career running partnerships and operations at national scale, most recently as Senior Director of Partnerships at Shipt/Target. A Michigan State University graduate, a Michigan native, and John’s son: succession is built into the firm.
